First 'real' day at the gym.

My first real day the gym was on Monday, (sorry not stayed ontop of the blog).

I through the book out the window for the day, kind of. Decided to stick with the 10 min crosstrainer warm up, but then hit the treadmill for a go at week 2 of the couch to 5k NHS plan. Followed by a 10 cool down on a bike.

Now if you've not heard of it, you should check it out, the couch to 5k program is great. It's what got me running before my ankle injury. Didn't have the program on me so it was a mix up of 5 minutes walking, 1 min running then walking, alternating the two. Then turned it up to 90 seconds running, 1 minute walking. Then 5 minutes walking at the end, total 30 minutes.

All this was topped off with the compulsory chill in the solarium and hydropool.

All in all, Monday I have to say felt very positive and good after it all.

Induction done and dusted!?

So here it is, my induction/introduction to the gym.

Wasn't really much, little walk around, showed how the machines/ weights/resistance machines work and an explanation of their little fitness plan.

To be fair its not bad, well for me anyway. You've got your explanation on how it works, your choice of warm ups, routines from (so called) easy to insane and cool downs.

Today was a gentle warm up, 10mins on the crosstrainer at level four, followed by one as half 'Snake' and a cool down.

After all that excitement I felt the need for 5 minutes in the sauna and some time in the hydrotherapy pool.

All good so far! Only downer I was hit with was accidentally standing on the scales before leaving the changing room. 17.6st! I'm hoping that's not accurate, I'll give you true weight and measurements tomorrow.

For now though, I can say that I'm ending this post feeling good and on a high!

First step......

So to kick this all off I started with a little visit to one of my local gyms. Two things pop up here:
1) Why a gym?
then
2) Why this gym?

So 1) I've tried all sorts, running, swimming, diets, T25, P90x, Insanity, loads of things and although they've worked for me, they only worked for a month or two, three at best. So my thought process is, if it's coming out of my pocket, I'm gonna use it. Plus it offers me a range of activities for one price!
2) Why this one? Well, they are one of two with a swimming pool and I love swimming. Used to be great at it, might have been as a teenager mind, but great! The other gym with a pool had 7 matches to use and was around the same price. Plus an added bonus/curse, is some of my friends use it.
So here it is. My membership tag.
Thanks to my current student card it's going to cost me £35 a month. Was £25 joining fee which was cut, £10 fee for the remainder of the month cut in half due to an offer, which was again reduced to £2 thanks to a £2 scratch card giving me a £5 return, lol. My induction is of Friday so we'll see how that goes!

Fat Dad!

Hello and welcome to fat dad's blog! I'm fat Dad, aka. Greg. Now here's the scoop, I'm a dad and I'm fat! I know, you didn't see that coming! The truth is, I'm not huge but I am a lot bigger than I should be, so this is my rundown of me trimming down. Here I'll be posting pictures of me, sharing my measurements, my diet, maybe some recipes, my ups, along with, no doubt, my (many) downs and my exercise, in the hope that it'll keep me going and who knows, might help someone out there! So, without further ado....... Here goes.......!
